11th May 2016 Visitors to Luton will enjoy a blooming and beautiful town centre this summer thanks to baskets, displays and window boxes funded by Luton Business Improvement District (BID).
In June 50 hanging baskets, three barrier baskets, 16 octagonal and three tier displays and 16 window boxes will all be installed throughout the town centre streets and squares.
Cleaning and sprucing up Luton town centre is a key objective for the Luton BID – an initiative which sees town centre businesses pool an annual levy to fund improvements and events.
The BID has also funded the planning and maintenance of these flowers, as part of its remit to ensure that the town centre and all its different areas are attractive and appealing to residents, workers and visitors.
Gavin O’Brien from creative agency Clearhead is chair of the Luton BID Board, which drives forward activities under the area’s new Business Improvement District status.
Gavin said: “We want everyone to be able to take pride in and enjoy Luton town centre, and a blooming town centre, packed with colour and fragrance, will help new and loyal shoppers to our vibrant streets. This is about making the town centre a more attractive place to be – whether you’re on your way to work, shopping or simply heading home. Flowers will be dotted throughout the town centre, including Bute Street, George Street, Market Hill, St George’s Square and the bottom of Wellington Street.”
