7th November 2016: It will be an extra special Christmas for local families this year, with Chase & Marshall from PAW Patrol making personal appearances at the town centre’s festive lights switch-on – St George’s Square, Saturday, 26th November.
Luton Business Improvement District (BID) has organised the heroic pups’ appearance, with the canine duo set to be based in a gazebo on George Street. They will be making their appearances at intervals between 2.30pm and 7pm, entertaining families in the lead-up to the official switch-on at 6pm.
There will be opportunities to take photos throughout the switch-on, which is organised by Luton Borough Council and supported by Luton BID.
Luton BID Director, Bashir Dalvi said: “Luton BID is committed to fostering a sense of pride in our town and one of our main aims is to entice more people into the town centre, especially over the busy festive period.
“Chase & Marshall from PAW Patrol are popular TV characters and will create a real buzz and sense of excitement at this special event. We are delighted to be able to support the town centre’s exciting Lighting Up Luton event in this way.
“PAW Patrol fans will have the opportunity to take photos so we reminding everyone not to forget their cameras on the day.”
Gavin O’Brien from creative agency Clearhead is chair of the Luton BID Board, which drives forward activities under the area’s Business Improvement District status.
Gavin added: “In our BID business plan we pledged to develop and organise events which would build the reputation of Luton town centre as a great place to be entertained. We want everyone to be able to take pride in and enjoy Luton town centre and our Christmas entertainment is one of the ways we aim to attract more visitors and extend the time people spend here in our town centre.”
Here are other Christmas highlights being organised by Luton BID:
- A skating rink will return to St George’s Square from 16th December to 6th January, open from 12noon to 8pm, with skating sessions starting on the hour. Skating sessions will cost £4 for a 45-minute session. The rink will close at 4pm on Christmas Eve and will be closed for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
- The BID is also funding a spectacular vintage Christmas Carousel, open from 17th The old-fashioned family favourite will be in St George’s Square until Christmas Eve.
- Live performances from talented musicians and artists will entertain shoppers in St George’s Square from 12noon to 4pm on Saturday 10th December and Saturday, 17th
- Another highlight from Luton BID is the return of its free ‘Golden Ticket’ festive prize draw, with eight lucky shoppers set to win a share of £4,000 of vouchers.
