15th November 2015 Shoppers in Luton have even more reason to celebrate this Christmas as town centre shops and businesses rally together to award over £2,000 of shopping vouchers and prizes to 12 lucky winners.
For the first time the Luton Business Improvement District (BID) has organised a Christmas Cracker prize draw exclusively for town centre shoppers. Every Wednesday, in the four weeks leading up to Christmas, there will be three winning tickets. Two winners will each receive £250 of shopping vouchers, while the third winner will win one of the following: a one year Cineworld pass, 12 month membership to The Gym, £100 Debenhams voucher or a £200 gift voucher to spend at any business in The Mall.
Specially designed post boxes are now dotted throughout Luton town centre and thousands of entry forms have been delivered to businesses and shops.
Gavin O’Brien, Chair of the Luton BID Board and owner of creative agency Clearhead, said: “As a newly formed Business Improvement District we are committed to working together to create a thriving, vibrant town centre for our businesses, shoppers and visitors.
“Our Christmas Cracker campaign will not only guarantee an extra special Christmas present for our 12 lucky winners and their families but will also bring more shoppers into our town centre, a key objective for the BID.
“Crucially the winning vouchers must be spent here in the town centre, enabling us to support our range of independent, high street, shopping centre, cultural and creative businesses during this peak, festive period. So, whether you want to shop till you drop, enjoy a meal, book theatre tickets or save vouchers for the New Year sales, we would urge you not to miss out and enter today.”
To be in with a chance of securing the winning ticket all shoppers need to do is fill in a Christmas Cracker entry form and hand post it into one of our Christmas Cracker post boxes, which are located in the Central Library, The Galaxy, the Travel Centre / Starbucks and in Delikatesy Polskie Smaczek on George Street. There will also be two post boxes in The Mall – near the Help Point and close to the Christmas Grotto.
Christmas Cracker tickets are available from all town centre businesses and are also being printed in the Luton on Sunday in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The first three winners will be drawn on Wednesday, 25th November and will be presented with their prizes on 28th November at the town’s Lighting up Luton. At this event Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain, who will be switching on Luton’s Christmas lights, will announce our first Christmas Cracker winners.
The BID’s three recently recruited Street Ambassadors will also be promoting the prize draw, delivering entry forms to businesses and encouraging shoppers to enter.
