6th May 2016: Luton town centre is coming alive with dancing and singing this month with a day of ‘Luton Live’ entertainment scheduled in St George’s Square on 14th May.

The sounds of gospel will kick off the afternoon’s entertainment, with music from Luton Lighthouse Choir, followed by songs from vintage vocalist Rebecca Jayne, who will sing a mix of war time classics, music hall and swing tunes.

Another highlight for families will be a circus skills workshop from Messy Moss, billed as the UK’s only painter, decorator and juggler.

‘Luton Live’ has been planned and funded by Luton Business Improvement District (BID), an eight month programme of entertainment designed to entice more visitors into the town centre.

Gavin O’Brien, Chair of the Luton BID Board, said: “Our research and surveys showed that businesses and visitors alike want more reasons for shoppers to visit Luton town centre and spend more time here. Luton Live is designed to celebrate all that is great about Luton town centre, to help visitors explore Luton and of course, to celebrate our great cultural and creative offering.”

The line-up for 14th May 2016 on St George’s Square is:

  • 12noon to 12.30pm – Luton Lighthouse Choir
  • 45pm to 1.15pm – Rebecca Jayne
  • 30pm to 2pm – Messy Moss Circus Workshop
  • 15pm to 2.45pm – Luton Lighthouse Choir
