10th December 2015 The Luton Christmas Cracker draw has now brought festive joy to nine lucky Luton residents and just one draw remains – is yours the winning ticket?
Three more lucky winners were notified on Wednesday. Sameem Riaz and Rachel Burns each won a £250 voucher for the business of their choice in Luton town centre, while Mary McDonnell can shop until she drops in The Mall, with a £200 gift card.
Rachel lives with her husband and teenage children, and plans to spend her voucher in Debenhams. “I’m so pleased,” she said. “I can treat myself and my husband to something nice just before Christmas. The shops in Luton town centre are very good, I love the variety. I found out about the Luton Christmas Cracker in the local paper and posted my ticket in The Mall, but I was definitely very surprised to win.”
Mary has three children and five grandchildren, so the gift card was particularly welcome just before Christmas. “It was just wonderful, it couldn’t have come at a better time,” she said. “I come into the town centre three or four times a week, and I’m looking forward to being able to use the card in lots of different shops. I’ll be able to get things for my family and treat myself to something nice too.”
Sameem selected Next for his voucher, and will be doing some shopping with his daughter Zartasha in tow.
Luton Business Improvement District (BID) has funded and organised the draw to bring more shoppers and visitors into the town centre in the run-up to Christmas.
Gavin O’Brien, Chair of the Luton BID Board, said: “It’s wonderful to hear stories from our Luton Christmas Cracker winners. The draw aims to encourage more visitors into the town centre, to celebrate the great range of shops, food and drink outlets and leisure destinations in the area and to ensure as many businesses as possible can benefit from the winnings. There is still one prize draw to go so anyone who wants to be in with a chance of winning should get their ticket posted without delay.”
One draw remains for the Luton Christmas Cracker – is yours the winning ticket? Tickets can be found in shops and businesses around the town centre, and the draw will take place on Wednesday 16th December. Hand post your ticket in one of the six Luton Christmas Cracker post boxes, which are located in The Mall (Ask Me point and near the Grotto); Travel Centre/Starbucks; Central Library; The Galaxy and Delikatesy Polskie Smaczek (49, George Street).
