26th November 2015 Christmas has come early for three lucky Luton residents, who have collectively received £700 worth of prizes in the first draw of the Luton Christmas Cracker – is yours the winning ticket?
Neli Gogishvili, Claire Makepeace and Alessandra Catania were the first three names drawn in the fabulously festive prize draw. Neli and Claire can shop until they drop or party the night away with a £250 voucher for any town centre business of their choice, while Alessandra need never miss a blockbuster again with a year’s free admission to the Cineworld cinema.
The winners were due to accept their prizes at the Lighting Up Luton event on Saturday 28th November, with Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain in attendance.
The draw has been funded and organised by Luton Business Improvement District (BID). In total, eight winners will each receive a £250 voucher to spend anywhere they choose in the town centre, while a further four winners will walk away with gift cards donated by local businesses.
The first name drawn was 19-year-old Neli, who works at the London School of Science and Technology in the town centre. “One of the BID’s friendly Ambassadors dropped off the Christmas Cracker tickets in my office,” she said. “I couldn’t resist popping to The Mall to post it. I love Luton town centre, I come shopping here all the time and New Look is one of my favourites. I’m looking forward to treating myself to a new Christmas outfit.”
Alessandra was thrilled at the prospect of a year of free films, thanks to Cineworld. The 26-year-old flight attendant already travels the world every week; now she can fire her imagination during her days off too. “I especially can’t wait to see He Named Me Malala,” she said. “What a brilliant Christmas present! The BID is a great idea, it’ll be good to see more positive changes to our town centre.”
Gavin O’Brien, Chair of the Luton BID Board, said: “Huge congratulations to our first three winners. Our Luton Christmas Cracker campaign is giving away a whole host of great prizes as we approach Christmas; there are still six more £250 vouchers to be won, as well as a free membership to The Gym, and gift cards for Debenhams and The Mall. We would encourage everybody to come into Luton for their Christmas shopping, and hand post their ticket in one of our special Luton Christmas Cracker post boxes to be in with a chance of winning.”
