Two transformational proposals will bring about “exciting opportunities” for Luton town centre businesses – say Luton Business Improvement District (BID) directors.

Funding for a £20m multi-purpose regeneration development in Bute Street, and the unanimous approval of Luton Town Football Club’s modified Power Court stadium plans were announced separately on Wednesday 27th October.

Luton BID’s board of directors – which includes representatives from town centre businesses, The Mall Luton, The Galaxy, and other partners – have praised the announcements, saying they reflect the BID’s overall vision and strategic objectives.

Gavin O’Brien, Chair of the Luton BID and co-director of town centre based business Clearhead, explained: “The regeneration of Bute Street and the modified Power Court stadium plans are two very significant projects which will support the economic development of our town centre and Luton as a whole.

“We as a board strongly believe the plans have the potential to raise the standards in the town, improving the overall perception and visitor experience of our town centre, and boosting the general retail, leisure and cultural offer on a wider level.

“There is masses of opportunity for our town centre businesses to maximise the potential, and the BID will continue to follow the developments with great interest. Luton is moving forward in the direction we always knew it would.”
