Luton’s local insurance broker, Howden, is proud to sponsor GB triathlete Katy Armitage in the upcoming European Sprint Triathlon Championships.
Katy grew up in Luton and has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top of her sport, having only taken up Triathlon just three years ago. In 2022, Katy finished in second place in her age group at the UK Ironman, and narrowly missed out on a place in the World Championship. However, in 2023, Katy went one better and won her age group at the UK Ironman and came 6th place overall qualifying for the World Championships in Hawaii.
A successful year was capped off when Katy was selected to represent Great Britain in the European Sprint Championships, held in Vichy, France this Saturday, 21st September 2024.
When Katy’s brother, who works in the branch, recommended Katy contacted Howden for support, her passion and ethos won the team over, resulting in the Howden logo proudly emblazoned on her GB suit. As a local insurance broker, not only do Howden focus on understanding clients and the specifics of their insurance needs but it prides itself on acting as a force for good, supporting local people and the community.
For Katy, Saturday’s race will be a very different type of racing compared to the Ironman distance, where she would usually race for around 11 hours, so she is excited to face this new, and much faster challenge.
