We are currently experiencing a rise in theft and anti-social behaviour across the town centre. Current statistics reported to the Police do not align with what is being reported to Luton Point or the main control room. The discrepancy shows that crimes are not being reported correctly. It is vital to understand that without accurate reporting, the Police cannot allocate additional enforcement resources. They rely solely on verified data to determine where support is most needed, and without the correct statistics, our area risk not receiving the necessary attention.
LBAC members have access to monthly meetings held with the Police, Luton Point, Control Room and the main CCTV Control Room. These meetings are designed to share intelligence, identify patterns and work collectively to reduce theft and anti-social behaviour. We encourage ALL LBAC members to attend these meetings where possible – and if unable to, to ensure you are feeding back and reporting issues to the Luton BID team to be raised at this meeting. LBAC members also have access to DISC – a crime intelligence sharing system, data from this system is used by the Police to help collate and combine intelligence of offenders and known individuals activities that can be used to help build a case for prosecution. We strongly urge businesses to record any offences OR noted sightings of offenders on this system. If any staff need additional training on using DISC, our ambassadors can help with this.
If you are not a member of LBAC and are interested in more information, please see our website www.lutonbid.org/luton-business-against-crime and get in touch with us at info@lutonbid.org.
Together, we can make a difference in improving safety and security in our community.
