26th June 2017: A burst of colour has arrived in Luton town centre this summer with the return of our hugely popular floral displays – all funded by Luton Business Improvement District (BID).
51 hanging baskets, 16 three tier planters and 15 barrier baskets have been installed as part of the BID’s commitment to sprucing up the town centre to make it cleaner and more appealing and attractive for residents, workers and visitors.
Simon Martin from Debenhams – one of the BID-levy paying businesses said: “We had such great feedback from people about last year’s displays, and we are very excited by this BID initiative. The flowers have only been in place for less than a week but we are delighted to have already had lots of positive comments about their return.
“It is important to us that people take pride in and enjoy Luton town centre, and with our flowers adding vibrancy to town centre streets through their colour and fragrance, we are confident they will improve the visitor experience for anyone whether they are on way their way to work, shopping or heading home.”
Luton BID has also funded the planning and maintenance of the baskets and planters thanks to funding raised through BID levy paying businesses.
The displays can be found throughout the town centre in Bute Street, George Street, Market Hill, St George’s Square and the bottom of Wellington Street.
