Luton’s history stretches far beyond that of our hat making history of the 18th century, going as far back as 250,000 years. Early settlements were found in the Round Green area, where Paleolithic encampments have been found. However, Luton today is a bit different than to that of its past.
A town with a rich history in hat making, dominating the world at one point, something the town is particularly proud of. Luton is a town recorded in the Domesday book as Loitone, where the town’s population was around 700-800. The foundation of our town is recorded to the 6th Century, when a Saxon outpost was founded on the River Lea.
Today, however, Luton is a vibrant town, with an exciting array of businesses in the town centre. From an exciting nightlife with upcoming bands in Luton’s best venues, to family entertainment in the Galaxy Leisure Centre, so much is on offer. Have a bounce around with the brilliant Gravity crew in the Galaxy, before finishing with an all-essential trip to Nando’s. Luton is home to a diverse trip of flavours, there’s no need to leave your hometown and travel the world for fantastic food when it’s on your doorstep!

Little Red on George Street is heaving with creativity from day to night-time, learn a new artistic skill before dancing the night away with the best artists playing music for all of Luton to hear.
